Sara S.honored for her contributions to the organization, raising awareness of the group, its mission and events.

CINCINNATI (December 27, 2011) — Sara S., Marketing Chairperson for Celebrate Adoption and owner of an independent marketing communications firm, has been awarded the WE Celebrate Community Impact: Business of the Year Award. Presented by the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, the WE Celebrate awards breakfast honors women and women-owned businesses for their achievement, innovation, social responsibility and mentoring. The event was held on December 8, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency in Downtown Cincinnati and drew more than 700 attendees.

Sara S. was one of four finalists for the award. Selected by an independent committee of examiners, she was hailed for her commitment to Celebrate Adoption, a Cincinnati-area network of adoptive families that presents educational workshops, organizes support and discussion groups, and hosts social gatherings for a network of member families. When she joined the Celebrate Adoption Steering Committee as Marketing Chair in the fall of 2009, she was charged with six tasks:

(1) Increase awareness of Celebrate Adoption’s mission and presence
(2) Grow membership
(3) Increase attendance at all events and gatherings
(4) Increase revenues (in order to produce more events)
(5) Launch a website
(6) Increase the number of steering committee members

To achieve these objectives, Sara S. made marketing and public relations recommendations and, in the past two years, has donated the equivalent of $20,000 in time at her billable hourly rate to implement a strategy to address all six areas of concern. She was nominated by fellow Steering Committee members Julie E., secretary, and Patty B., LISW-S, Celebrate Adoption’s professional facilitator, who—along with four other members of the Steering Committee—were in attendance at the awards ceremony.

In her acceptance of the award, Sara S. noted, “Celebrate Adoption is 100% volunteer run and managed, and I am just one of 13 extremely dedicated Steering Committee members. Every single member of our Committee invests an enormous amount of personal time in the planning and production of each of our events; I just happen to be the one with the biggest mouth! I share this award entirely with them.”
