| Description: | Transracial adoptive parenting involves unique challenges. Parents must work to reinforce the value and importance of family membership, while responding to a community that may question family relationships. Parents often wonder how to teach their children about racial difference and incorporating diversity. They express uncertainty about talking through issues of racism and stereotypes, and how to best prepare their children to respond to the outside world. Parents in transracial adoption can positively impact their child’s experience so they develop an ease with racial and adoptive identity.
